on the ‘You Matter ‘show – Living the Real Dream (listen to the show at www.energyofthespirit.com )
Touch is our most fundamental sense. In this show we explore why it's so important, what happens when this sense is neglected, and how it is so pivotal in our expression of who we are in the world.
Our skin is all that stands between us and the outside world. It protects us from harmful bacteria and the rays of the sun. It keeps fluids in, helps regulate our temperature – but more than a shield. It lets in world through touch. It’s a sense we tend to take for granted and yet it’s the first to develop and the last to leave. Our skin is the largest organ in the body. If lose sense of touch you’d be in deep trouble. You wouldn’t feel pain or pleasure and you wouldn’t be able to tell if you were damaging yourself.
What we define as touch actually encompasses a number of different senses – such as warmth, cold, pain, light touch, deep pressure and proprioception (this is all about knowing what our body’s position in space – e.g. flexing a foot - you can tell it’s flexed even if your eyes are shut) Through our sense of touch we can learn about the world in many ways. And we can learn about ourselves and what is truly important.
Come and discover more about your sense of touch and how you can touch your own life and the lives of others with richness and meaning. And also, I’ll share some tools for clear, confident decision-making.
